Samsung Electronics is sending sample of its 8-Gbyte moviNAND embedded flash memory to major mobile electronics manufacturers.
According to Samsung, the 8-Gbyte product is the highest density embedded flash memory currently developed. Its high-density moviNAND memory product consists of four 50-nanometer, 16-Gbit NAND flash memories, a high-speed MultiMediaCard (MMC) controller and associated firmware.
It can store up to 2,000 songs or enough map data to implement global positioning system (GPS) and points of interest for the entire western world. It can also be used with removable media cards to allow almost unlimited memory expansion.
