Phison Electronics announced that it will introduce a dual-channel controller IC for volume production in April.
Phison detailed that its IC PS2231 will be a dual-channel design, which implies that it can support both MLC and SLC NAND flash chips. This controller could also support both of Samsung Electronics's 50nm and Toshiba 56nm NAND flash chips. Read and write speed of this controller is 5MB and 3MB per second respectively.
The IC design house also highlighted that IC PS2231 supports constant firmware updates and Phison highlighted that the complete firmware update functionality is one of the key features of this controller
