Infineon is selling its Polymer Optic Fiber (POF) business, based in Regensburg, Germany, to Avago Technologies, the former semiconductor arm of Agilient Technologies Inc.
Both companies announced they have entered into a definitive agreement regarding the POF takeover. The acquisition is subject to regulation requirements; in case antitrust authorities will nod it through, both companies expect the acquisition will close within 90 days.
The unit develops, manufactures and markets laser transmitters and receivers for polymer fiber networks, such as MOST bus systems for automotive infotainment applications and networking systems for home broadband services.
All 80 employees of Infineon's POF business will be transferred to Avago, an Infineon spokesperson said. He refused to provide any details on the financial terms of the deal
