The Samsung Ultra Video (SGH-F500) mobile phone has become the first mobile phone to receive DivX certification from DivX Inc., enabling interoperability between the device and more than 70 million DivX certified consumer electronics devices, the company said Monday (April 9).
The F500 offers a large LCD that has swivel design for watching video. The F500 offers access to DivX movies on the go, either from the user's own collection, from DivX's own Stage 6 video Web site, or through other mobile content services, DivX (San Diego) said. , "The addition of DivX certification to the Samsung F500 mobile handset opens a broad ecosystem of digital media that can be taken on the road while preserving the kind of high-quality experience that video aficionados demand," said Kevin Hell, DivX president, in a statement.
DivX said products that bear the DivX Certified logo have undergone testing to ensure a high-quality DivX media experience, including reliable video creation and playback, interoperability with other DivX Certified devices and the visual quality users expect from DivX.
Also Monday, DivX said it expects first quarter revenue to be between $19.8 million and $20.2 million, higher than previous guidance. Pre-tax earnings are expected to be sequentially flat, the company said.
