Intel cut prices on Desktop CPU

Intel has published price cuts of up to 40% for is 3000-sequence uni-processor server CPUs and updated its desktop CPU lineup with lower prices and new products.

Pricing for the Quad Core Xeon X3220 has fallen by 38% from US$851 to US$530 while the X3210 has been cut by a slightly higher margin from US$690 to US$423. Prices for the four Dual Core Xeon processors, the 3070, 3060, 3050 and 3040 have also been reduced by between 40% and 9%.

For the desktop market, the Core 2 Quad Q6600 has fallen in price to US$530 while CPUs in the Core 2 Duo E6X00-series have been cut by up to 40%. Intel also introduced two new processors, the E6420 and E6320, which share equivalent features to the similarly numbered E6400 and E6300 CPUs but have an increased L2 cache of 4MB.

At the lower-end, Intel has cut the price of the E4300 from US$163 to US$113 and introduced the 2GHz E4400 at US$133.

The cost for the Pentium D 935 has been cut to US$84 while the 925, 915, and 820 are all now priced at US74.
