Qimonda,the DRAM vendor,is hiring up to 300 engineers worldwide presently for its expansion plans.
A company spokesperson acknowledged a report in German newspaper Handelsblatt, saying that most of the vacancies are in the areas of technology development, product development, and production. Qimonda's technology development is based on Dresden, product development in Munich. Production jobs are offered "basically worldwide", the spokesperson said. Including backend, Qimonda presently runs production sites in Dresden, Richmond (USA), Taiwan, China and Malaysia as well as in Portugal.
"We are looking for graduates as well as for experienced engineers", the spokesperson said. He declined that the timing for the job offers was connected to the price recovery tendency presently observed in the DRAM industry. "We plan for the long term", the spokesperson said. "Most of these vacancies did exist already weeks ago."
