A-Data report decline in DRAM revenue

Thursday, July 19, 2007 Taiwan memory module maker A-Data Technology has reported a 19.72% sequential decline in revenues for the second quarter, at NT$9.89 billion (US$301.3 million), as a result of falling DRAM prices, but it expects a strong sales rebound in the third quarter on stabilizing DRAM prices and strong NAND flash product demand.

The company reported NT$22.22 billion in revenues for the first half of 2007, up 38.8% from the same period of last year. But income before taxes dropped 41.8% to NT$414 million in the first half of 2007 from NT$711 million for the same period of 2006 because of a more than 60% decline in DRAM prices during the period.

Sales from the NAND flash product line grew 0.66% sequentially in the second quarter, but the sales from DRAM line plunged 30%.
