Taiwan DRAM makers are all set for the production of 70nm process technology based memory chips, on the such as Inotera Memories Inc., ProMOS Technologies Inc. and Powerchip Semiconductor Corp.(PSC).
Inotera schedules its mass production by Q3 2007, with 30 percent of its total 120,000-wafer capacity allotted for 70nm production in Q4 2007. ProMOS has 40 percent of its wafer start at Fab 3 with production now reaching 80 percent to 85 percent. The company, which had started half of its wafer on 70nm in July, expects all wafers to be fabricated on 70nm by October.
On the other hand, PSC will have about 70 percent to 80 percent of its total 90,000-wafer capacity at Fab 12A and Fab 12B to be assigned to 70nm in H2 2007. Company sources reveal that output from 70nm production has considerably improved. The company is expediting the production of 1Gb DDR2 chips to the 70nm node. This effort will make it one of the first Taiwan DRAM makers to mass-produce 1Gb DDR2 on this node.
