Infineon Technologies post disappointing results for its third quarter by the poor performance of Qimonda.
Revenues for Infineon excluding Qimonda were €1.01 billion (about $1.39 billion), up 2 percent over the same quarter last year. The operative result for the chip maker without Qimonda was positive. Before tax and capital costs, the company earned €13 million while in the past quarter this figure was negative with a loss of €28 million.
Including Qimonda, revenues were €1.75 billion, down 11 percent against last year's third quarter. While the company without Qimonda had achieved a razor-thin operative profit of €13 million, Qimonda's loss makes the result turn negative with an operative loss of €280 million. Net loss was €197 million, much worse than the €23 million in Q3/2006.
