Mosel Vitelic's disposal of ChipMOS Technologies shares has drawn industry-wide concern as ProMOS Technologies and Powertech Technology (PTI) have been identified as buyers.
Mosel announced on July 27 that it had disposed of 8.1 million ChipMOS shares at a per share price of US$6.30 via its subsidiary Giant Haven Investments. The shares were evenly purchased by ProMOS and PTI, according to a company filling with Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE). Mosel's accumulated stake at ChipMOS was reduced to 13% after the sale.
Since the per unit price was lower than cost, Mosel will have to recognize an investment loss of about NT$47.9 million accordingly, revealed sources at the company.
