Semefab has bought the building next to its Fab 1 & 2 facilities in Glenrothes in order to create an 871 sqm cleanroom for MEMS front end processing.

Fab 3 is scheduled to be operational by Jan 2009 and will be in a new 3000 sq m facility that will also house services and additional office space.

Executing the first phase of the investment, Semefab has expanded fab 2 by 29 percent and is presently installing new MEMS fabrication equipment with a scheduled fully operational date of February 2008. SemeMEMS is already supporting customers through feasibility, proof of concept and prototype technology stages. The 'open-access' service supports U.K., mainland Europe, North America and Israeli companies and academia. Technology projects should seamlessly transition from SemeMEMS to Semefab in order to ramp a customer's demand from development to volume manufacturing.
