Agilent shows its simulation tool

Thursday, August 23, 2007 Agilent Technologies Inc. debuted its 3D simulation technology which is specially designed to expand the accuracy of passive circuit libraries used in RF and microwave designs.

Agilent (Santa Clara, Calif.) said Wednesday (Aug. 22) its planar 3D electromagnetic simulator dubbed Momentum GX is also designed to expand the range of parasitic models and entire circuits. The simulator, which is integrated with Agilent's Genesys EDA platform, is intended to help microwave and RF designers reduce design steps and speed the verification process for passive circuit designs.

"As traditional RF and microwave component designs move higher in frequency, the accuracy of physical design verification becomes a key focus of the design cycle," Mounir Adada, product marketing manager with Agilent's EEsof EDA division, said in a statement.

Agilent's Momentum GX is expected to be available for download in September. Pricing starts at $10,000, the company said. Users of the Agilent Empower simulator may be eligible for upgrading to Momentum GX at a reduced cost, Agilent said
