An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.5 on the Ritcher scale as recorded by the US Geological Survey that shook Taiwan early this morning did not affect operations of the Hsinchu Science Park , the hub of Taiwan's semiconductor and electronics production.
The strong earthquake took place on September 7 at around 1:51am off the eastern coast of Taiwan 44 miles southeast of the city of Ilan, but companies located at the HSP did not report any critical impact from the quake, said the management authority of the HSP. The quake registered as a magnitude 3 on the Ritcher scale in Hsinchu, the paper said.
