The target date of Renesas Technology Corp. initial public offering (IPO) remains unknown.
David Motozo Rubenstein, senior analyst with Jefferies Japan Ltd., said that privately-held Renesas was supposed to float its IPO in 2009, but he noted that the company no longer has a target date. "It's been tough for IPOs in Japan," he said.
"There is a possibility of an IPO in the future, but we don't have any specific timeline set for this at this time," according to a spokeswoman for Renesas.
Still, in the worldwide semiconductor rankings, the company jumped from eighth place in the first quarter, to sixth place in the second quarter, according to iSuppli Corp. Its sales hit $1.985 billion in calendar Q2, up 1.9 percent over the first period, according to the firm.
