Xilinx has introduced a low-cost development platform based on the Spartan-3A DSP family of FPGAs. The kit, known as the "XtremeDSP Solutions Starter Platform - Spartan-3A DSP 1800A FPGA Edition," is intended for applications such as portable medical ultrasound, video surveillance, and mobile software defined radio systems.
The kit offers industry-standard interfaces, including a VGA port, an Ethernet 10/100/1000 PHY, and an RS-232 port. The kit also comes with a variety of memory, including a 128M X 32 bit DDR2 SDRAM. In addition, the kit provides a System ACE Module connector and an expansion slot for third-party add-on cards.
The XtremeDSP Solutions Starter Platform - Spartan-3A DSP 1800A FPGA Edition is available today for $295.
