Kingston Technology anticipates its NAND flash application sales will post an over 50% on-year growth in 2007, according to a Kingston spokesman.
Annual sales are expected to grow by about 35% on year to US$5 billion in 2007. US$1.3 billion will be contributed by NAND flash application sales, representing a more than 50% on-year growth. The strong performance should see Kingston rise as the second-largest NAND flash application vendor behind SanDisk.
The key NAND flash sales driver is microSD cards, followed by Secure Digital (SD) cards and USB drives. Chen highlighted that microSD card sales account for 60% of Kingston's NAND flash application sales in Taiwan. Handsets continue to be the largest end application driving memory card consumption. The company projects it will have a global microSD card market share of 30% in 2007.
