DRAM pricing might have recently bounce back slightly after hitting rock bottom, the overall market is still in oversupply. DRAM makers have begin adjusting strategies to accomodate the upcoming tougher times.
Reducing capital expenditure and delaying sending chips to packaging houses so as to force packaging houses to lower their quotes, and thus reducing costs seems to be some of the adopted strategies.
However, some DRAM makers pointed out that delaying shipments is not an absolute solution. What the DRAM market needs is new demand to surface in order to solve the supply and demand problem, they said.
