SDRAM prices are plunging quickly as DRAM makers scramble to unload SDRAM chips inventory that has piled up since the start of the low season onto the market, according to industry sources.
Some vendors have quoted as low as US$0.36-0.37 for a 16Mb SDRAM chip, far lower than the market prices, while others have priced their 64Mb SDRAM chips at only US$0.6 each, the sources claimed. However the low prices have failed to buoy demand, with DRAM makers expecting SDRAM prices to continue trending down.
