Microsoft said Jeff Raikes, who heads the software maker's largest business unit, will leave in September and be replaced by Juniper Networks Chief Operating Officer Stephen Elop.
Raikes, 49, who joined Microsoft in 1981, leads Microsoft's business unit. The company didn't give a reason for his retirement. Sales at Microsoft's business division almost doubled to more than $16 billion under his tenure. His departure removes one of the likely successors to Chief Executive Steve Ballmer.
