Lenovo has showcased its new consumer-based IdeaPad notebooks at CES 2008. The company said three models will be launch, the 17-inch Y710, 15-inch Y510 and 11-inch U110 targeting game, family and personal market groups, according to Craig Merrigan, vice president of branding and strategy, Lenovo.
Lenovo is well known in the US commercial market, however, the company's consumer segment only receives high attention in the China and India markets, where the company currently already enjoys the largest market share and a 22% market share, respectively. The launch of the new IdeaPad range is targeted at filling this gap, noted Merrigan.
The IdeaPad range will be launched in 15 countries worldwide including the US, China and Taiwan. The Y510 will be priced at US$799, while the Y710 will cost US$1199. The U110 with an LED backlight module has not had its price fixed yet, but Merrigan expects it to be around US$1,200-1,400, he revealed
