Qimonda is postponing the equipment installation at its 12-inch fab in Singapore amid a DRAM industry downturn.
Qimonda started construction on the 12-inch fab toward the end of 2006, and the structure is almost complete. Equipment installation was originally scheduled for 2008, but now it will be postponed until there is a clearer outlook for the DRAM market, the sources said.
Qimonda's move coincides with other Taiwan DRAM makers' decision to slow down their expansion, the sources pointed out.
