US-based Kingston Technology has launched a pricing campaign intending to boost its share in the memory card market, according to industry sources.
Kingston has lowered prices 10-20% for its memory card and flash drives in many regions. Despite decreased demand from Apple, NAND flash prices have been rather stable recently as a result of Kingston's strong orders, the sources claimed. Kingston has not only placed large orders with Samsung, but also increased its orders from Hynix Semiconductors and Toshiba, the sources said.
Kingston's competitors remain cautious in purchasing NAND flash, as prices may still tumble when more output from 50nm is available, the sources commented.
