Demand for digital photo frames is expected to increase to 20 million units in 2008, according to Taiwan's Industrial Economics and Knowledge Center (IEK). Samsung, Sony, Kodak, Philips, ViewSonic, and HP are now offering models sized as small as 1.5-inches and as large as 32-inches.
The global market for digital photo frame products reached about 12 million units in 2007, according to IEK.
Demand for low-priced digital photo frames in North America has helped drive sales, with models priced as low as under-US$49, while higher-end models are now being introduced with features such as video, music, and other applications such as a calendar, noted Chih-hao Yeh, projector manager at Taiwan digital photo frame vendor AboCom Systems.
