Amid a deal with Taiwan's Nanya Technology Corp., Micron Technology Inc. plans to build a new 300-mm fab in Boise, Idaho, according to the local news source IdahoStatesman web site.
Micron (Boise) did not give a timetable on the new fab, according to the report. The company has a 200-mm fab as well as a 300-mm R&D facility in Boise.
It also fabs in Singapore, Lehi, Utah, and Manassas, Va. On Monday (March 3), Micron and Taiwan DRAM vendor Nanya Technology confirmed they plan a joint venture in DRAMs and a partnership in research and development.
The deal with Nanya is separate from the new fab in Boise, according to the report. In that deal, Micron and Nanya may build a new fab in Taiwan.
