Sony has launched high-end Vaio Z-series, enterprise and entertainment Vaio SR-series and high-definition multimedia entertainment Vaio FW-series notebooks all adopting Intel's latest Centrino 2 platform.
The Z-series notebooks feature a 13.1-inch panel, Intel's P8600 Centrino 2 processor, and 320GB hard drive . A second model with a P8400 processor and 250GB hard drive..
The FW-series notebooks all feature Blu-ray drives. Options available include a P9400 processor and 320GB hard drive or P8400 processor and 250GB hard drive.Prices range from US$1530-2440..
Regarding the netbook market, Sony pointed out that it already offers ultra-portable models and products priced below US$1,000 meaning it can satisfy demand in the low-cost market with its traditional notebook lines. It said it is not interested in cutting costs further, and the expense of performance, features, and/or quality, in order to compete for that section of the low-end market
