Intel said it will ship its CE 3100 system-on-chip (SoC), designed for low-power, multimedia-rich connected devices, to Samsung Electronics and Toshiba in September.
Other leading consumer electronics makers are also expected to employ the CE 3100 CPU in their products, they added.
Taiwan's Gigabyte Technology and Tatung 3C are also expected to introduce CE 3100-powered set-top boxes (STBs). Pegatron Technology and Unihan Technology are also said to have started landing OEM orders for products using the CE 3100, the sources said.
