The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) said Friday (Sept. 12) it planned to investigate whether ICs made by LSI Corp. infringe on patents held by complainant Freescale Semiconductor Inc.
The ITC said the products at issue are ICs incorporated into devices such as host adapters and device controllers. Freescale filed the complaint on Aug. 15, requesting that the ITC issue an exclusion order and a cease and desist order, the ITC said.
The case will next be assigned to one of the ITC's five administrative law judges, who will who will schedule and hold an evidentiary hearing, then make an initial determination as to whether there is a violation. That initial determination is subject to review by the full ITC.
