Acer sets goal on $20 Billion revenue by end 2008

Tuesday, September 23, 2008

Acer expects strong performance in the third quarter this year, and has forecast a sequential revenues growth of 23-25%, while annual revenues in 2008 will be close to US$20 billion.

The company expects notebook demand in the fourth quarter will continue to increase and, despite shrinking US notebook market growth, the company is optimistic about the growth in Europe and Asia.

In addition to challenging US$30 billion in revenues in 2011, the company also aims to become the number one notebook vendor in the world. Reducing operating costs to below 6% while increasing net operating profits to above 4%, is another goal for the company, Lanci said.

With the consumer market in China showing excellent growth, China will become the next largest contributor to Acer's PC revenues growth. Results are expected within two years and Acer hopes to become the number three vendor in the market.

In additional news, Acer is also planning to transfer its netbook product lines to Gateway and Packard Bell after 2-3 years to maintain the Acer brand image of signifying "innovation". The Gateway and Packard Bell brands will be associated with mainstream products, according to sources at the company.
