Taiwan 's Asustek Computer recently cut P45-based motherboard prices further to clear inventory and prepare for the upcoming launch of Intel's Nehalem processors.
Asustek's price cut is expected to have a significant effect on other first-tier motherboard makers since these makers are unable to follow suit and cut prices due to costs, and will be unlikely to outmatch Asustek before the end of this year, noted the sources.
In other related news, Asustek 's X58-based motherboards is ready for mass production and is expected to show up in the market by late October.Asustek is planning to add SLI support using Nvidia's nForce 200 chip while Gigabyte has chosen the software licensing option.
