Asustek Computer expects its annual notebook shipments including netbooks in Europe will surpass six million units this year and will boost the company's rank to third place.
Annual revenues are also expected to surpass US$5 billion, a growth of around 30% on year, according to Eric Chen, General Manager of the European Sales and Marketing Group at Asustek.
The company expects its notebook shipments (not including netbooks) in Europe to surpass 3.5 million units, a growth of around 40% compared to 2007. Shipments of Eee PCs will be 2.5 million units, Chen detailed.
Currently, Asustek has around 600 employees and 15 subsidiaries in Europe. The company expects the numbers will increase to 1,000 and 20, respectively, before the first half of 2009.
The company recently began cooperation with telecommunication vendor SFR in France and T-Mobile in Germany to bundle its new Eee PC 901GO featuring a built-in 3G module with telecom services.
The new Eee PC will also be launched in Taiwan by October to be bundled with service provided by Chunghwa Telecom (CHT).
