Kingston Plans More Taiwan Factory Expansion

Kingston Technology Inc, plans to expand production capacity in Taiwan next year to support its growing shipments.

Kingston's DRAM module and NAND Flash shipments grew sharply this year meaning the company needs more capacity to satisfy demand. Kingston's plants in Shanghai and Shenzhen, China have been running in full capacity this year, and although the company will continue to expand its production lines in China, it also plans to build a new plant in Taiwan in 2009. The site of the new plant may be in Hsinchu, northern Taiwan, the company added.

Kingston currently has production plants in California, Hsinchu, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Malaysia, with Shanghai having the largest capacity with 18 production lines At the other facilities there are 14 lines in Shenzhen, 10 in Hsinchu, 8 in Malaysia, and 3 niche-type production lines in California, according to market sources.
