In a grim update on immediate prospects, NXP Semiconductors said it is forecasting a 15 to 25 percent sequential decline in sales for the fourth quarter of 2008, blaming the weakening macroeconomic conditions and a deteriorating sales environment.
This compares to the previous guidance of an 8 to 14 percent sequential sales decline, given by the company on 21 October.
NXP (Eindhoven, the Netherlands) said Thursday (Nov. 20):"Visibility of sales remains very limited. However based on overall consumer sentiment, recent order book development, and expected future trading levels, we now foresee a 15 percent to 25 percent sequential sales decline in the fourth quarter on a business and currency comparable basis."
