Samsung Electronics plans to launch a new netbook (NC20) based on the VIA Technologies' Nano processor, with the company showcasing the netbook at CES 2009, starting January 8, according to sources in the notebook industry.
The NC20 will use VIA's Nano U225 processor coupled with 1GB memory, 160GB and run the Windows XP operation system, the sources indicated. The NC20 will also feature a 12-inch display, which is larger than most netbooks, as Intel has a restriction – of 7- to 10-inches – on the size of devices that can use its netbook Atom processor . The NC20 also weighs around 1.5kg.
The netbook is designed and manufactured by Samsung itself and the price is expected to be set at lower than US$604, the sources added.
