Texas Instruments will start sampling its second generation moving micromirror display technology in a chip during the second half of this year, with availability slated for late 2009.
The first generation DLP Pico parts are already designed in to some top-end phones, Samsung having shown prototype models at the CES earlier this year. TI says it has also been designed into upcoming notebooks and handheld media players.
The latest version is about 20-30 percent smaller than the first generation part, hugely increases performance benchmarks, and reduces the form factor significantly, the company said .
