There have been speculations that Micron Technology is asking the US government to help it secure a place in Taiwan Memory Company (TMC), whose technology partner is expected to be announced soon, according to industry sources.
Micron has dismissed the speculations. The company said it is open to opportunities to participate in the TMC project, but it will talk to its Taiwan partner Nanya Technology first.
John Hsuan, the semiconductor guru put in charge of founding the government-controlled TMC, will disclose the new DRAM entity's technology source by the end of March.
The sources have speculated that TMC may include both Elpida and Micron among its technology partners.
