A-Data said it has secured significant orders from white-box makers of handsets and netbooks in China.
A-Data Technology aims to offer white-box handset and netbook markets with key product lines including flash cards, DRAM modules and solid state drives (SSDs).
A-Data has posted revenues of NT$1.99 billion (US$59 million) for March, down 6% sequentially and 31% on year. Its accumulated sales for the first three months of 2009 totaled NT$5.8 billion, a decrease of 28% on year. Despite revenue drops, the company said its gross margins have improved on a recent rally in the NAND flash spot market as well as stabilizing DRAM pricing.
Sales contribution from NAND flash products slid to 60.25% of A-Data's March sales, whereas the DRAM module segment's share grew to 39.75%, according to the company.
