Toshiba has announced that it will start shipping NAND flash memory products fabricated with 32nm process technology.
Toshiba will start mass production of 32Gb NAND flash memory in July 2009, two months ahead of schedule, while 16Gb products will start to ship from the third quarter of the company's fiscal 2009 (ended December 31, 2009), the company said.
Toshiba's 32nm, 32Gb chips will first be applied to memory cards and USB memory products and subsequently extended to embedded products, the company said.
The new 32nm-made NAND flash chips will be produced at Toshiba's Yokkaichi operations in Mie prefecture, Japan, the company added.
Toshiba has also announced that it will continue to adjust production volume for NAND flash memory at its Yokkaichi plant during the first quarter of fiscal 2009 (ended June 30, 2009), and maintain the production level established since January (minus 30% approximately ), as well as continued adjustment of production at its other semiconductor plants.
Samples of the 32nm-generation, 32Gb single chips (4GB) are available from today, and 16Gb chip (2GB) products will be available in July in Japan.
