Atmel Corp have laid off 293 workers, including 266 at the company's fab in Colorado Springs and company's headquarters in San Jose, California.
Atmel announced in February it would pursue strategic alternatives for the company's ASIC business and related manufacturing assets, including a potential sale.
"Atmel has many hard working and dedicated employees, and we are committed to helping smooth the transition for those affected, including providing severance and outplacement services," the spokesperson's statement said.
Atmel has more than 6,000 employees worldwide.
