Alcatel-Lucent (Paris, France) said it plans to cut another 1,000 jobs in France in 2009 and 2010.

The job cuts would affect several units, including administrative and sales positions and some industrial activities. It would also concern Alcatel-Lucent France, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise subsidiaries, the headquarters as well as the RFS (Radio Frequency System) subsidiary.Similar job cut announcements may be expected in other countries, the company source deplored.

A staff meeting is due to take place today [July 10] in Lannion, France, in order to discuss the restructuring plan. And a central committee will take place between July 20 and July 24.
