Intel has suspended shipments of its recently launched 34nm NAND flash-based SSDs due to the discovery of a bug that could render the drives inoperable on systems that have a password set in the BIOS, according to sources in the channel.
Intel confirmed the report, stating that the company believes it made sense to pause shipments and implement the changes itself and via customers. The company added that the fix has been identified and validation will be completed in about 2 weeks.
The new Intel SSD that utilizes 34nm multi-level cell (MLC) NAND flash memory was announced on July 21. The products come in standard 2.5-inch and 1.8-inch sizes and is available in 80GB and 160GB versions.
