Nikon Tuesday unveiled the COOLPIX S1000pj, the first digital camera with a built-in projector.
The S1000pj is indeed cool -- it can project single photos or movie clips on any flat surface at up to 40 inches. Music and special effects can also be added. The camera also comes with a projector stand and a remote control that can be used to operate the projector and release the shutter.
Other features include a 12.1-megapixel sensor; 5X optical NIKKONR zoom lens that has of 28mm wide-angle coverage, macro shooting ability from as close as 1.2 inches and ISO 6400 2 capability that allows faster shutter speeds when shooting in low light or capturing fast-moving subjects. A motion detector automatically controls shutter speed and the ISO setting.
There are four movie modes with sound, 2.7-inch high-resolution LCD monitor, roughly 36 MB of internal memory and Quick Retouch, a feature that automatically adjusts contrast and saturation.
The projector has brightness of up to 10 lumens, produces image sizes of five inches to 40 inches and features a throw distance ofr roughly 10 inches to 6 feet, 6 inches.
The COOLPIX S1000pj will be release in September for $430.
