Advanced Inquiry Systems to prove DRAM wafer test

Tuesday, August 18, 2009 Advanced Inquiry Systems Inc. (Hillsboro, Ore.), a developer of wafer-level sensing systems for memory testing, has closed an $11 million Series B financing round with all its current investors participating.

AISI investors who participated in the current round of financing include OVP Venture Partners, TL Ventures, Intel Capital, Applied Ventures, KT Ventures and Northwest Ventures.

AISI said it plans to use the money it has raised to complete customer validation of its full-wafer data sensing systems for semiconductor memory manufacturing. It said it has received a purchase order for its DRAM (DDR3) products from a large, Asia-based semiconductor memory manufacturer.

AISI's technology is able to operate at high speed thereby improving tester utilization and can scale both in pin density and wafer size, the company said. The test technology makes contact with the entire wafer under test and applies local "intelligence" at the wafer for early detection of product performance, reliability and quality.

"Our investors recognize that AISI has immense potential, with an opportunity to serve an established growth market. This round of funding will provide AISI the capital required to reach its next significant milestone - customer validation of full wafer test," said Michael Wright, president and CEO, AISI.
