Nvidia unveils 3-D Vision Glasses

Nvidia has begun to market its GeForce 3D Vision glasses , which will allow Acer to launch high-profile 3D notebooks in the fourth quarter of 2009. Nvidia is reportedly outsourcing production of the 3D Vision glasses to Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry).

Samsung Electronics and ViewSonic have also showcased 120Hz LCD monitors that adopt Chi Mei Optoelectronics' (CMO's) panels, while AU Optronics (AUO) is currently also in negotiations for a partnership with Nvidia.

Nvidia's GeForce 3D Vision system incorporates a pair of active shutter LCD glasses, "Vision-Ready" display/panel capable of 120Hz refresh rate, emitter, and Nvidia performance level GPU, according to previous reports.

In additional news, several TV brands including Sony, Panasonic, Philips, Samsung, Hyundai and LG Electronics have displayed 3D-capable TVs at IFA 2009 Berlin.

Sony plans to launch a 3D LCD TV at the end of 2010, while other product lines such as notebooks, PS3 and Blu-ray players will all be able to support 3D titles.

Panasonic schedules to launch a 3D PDP TV in 2010, while LG plans to launch a 3D LCD TV at the end of 2009 in South Korea.
