Micronas replaces top executives reflects the intention to focus on automotive

Swiss chip manufacturer Micronas Holding AG has announced to replace its CEO and CFO. Also four of the five seats in the supervisory board will be reassigned. The move reflects the intention to focus on automotive markets.
Matthias Bopp will succeed Wolfgang Karlsbach as CEO. Bopp comes from chip manufacturer Atmel Germany where he oversaw the RF and Automotive product activities. According to outgoing supervisory board chairman Thomas Lustenberger Bopp has comprehensive experience in the semiconductor market as well as in the automotive business.

Günter Hoppe has been appointed CFO. Currently deputy CFO he will succeed Manfred Häner. Hoppe joined Micronas in 1997.

Karlsbach and Häner will resign. However, the point in time for the change has not yet been determined since they intend to allow for a seamless transition, the company said in a pres release.

Four of the five members of the supervisory board also step back. At an extraordinary General Meeting scheduled for November 27, the new members of the board will be elected. The candidates also reflect the thorough refocusing of the semiconductor manufacturer towards the automotive business. They are Klaus Blickle, CEO of Harman Becker Automotive Systems; Dieter Seipler, CEO of automotive supplier Mann & Hummel Holding; Stefan Wolf, CEO of automotive gasket manufacturer Elring Klinger AG, and Lucas Grolimund, former Cicor CEO.

"We are pleased that we succeeded in attracting such outstanding automotive market experts to Micronas as board members and as our new CEO," said designated Supervisory Board Chairman Heinrich Kreutzer. "The management of Micronas is now optimally focused on the automotive business and its further development."
