A-Data Technology has posted a filing with the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE) announcing a purchase of new shares worth NT$39.25 million (US$1.2 million) from rival Power Quotient International (PQI) through private placement. Accordingly, A-Data will hold a 0.86% stake in PQI.
Both A-Data and PQI swung to net profits in the first quarter of 2009, following losses in the previous two quarters. The two DRAM module makers remained profitable in the second quarter, and enjoyed profit growth on year.
A-Data chairman Simon Chen has estimated the company's September revenues to grow significantly on month, thanks to higher memory prices. Its August sales rose 22.7% sequentially, hitting a 21-month high.Market watchers have said that A-Data will manage revenue and profit growth sequentially in the third quarter.
PQI is also expected to see sequential revenue and profit increases in the third quarter, buoyed by a bullish DRAM pricing trend, according to company chairman Jance Lu.
