Worldwide semiconductor manufacturing equipment bookings showed sequential and year-to-year growth, while billings rose sequentially but declined year-to-year, according to industry trade groups.
Worldwide billings reached $4.54 billion in the third quarter, up 69 percent compared to the second quarter, but down 31 percent from the third quarter of 2008, according to a report based on data collected by SEMI and the Semiconductor Equipment Association of Japan (SEAJ).
Third quarter worldwide equipment bookings of $5.83 billion were up 9 percent from the second quarter and up 4 percent from the third quarter of 2008, according to the report.
The trade groups jointly collect the data from 110 global equipment companies that provide input on a monthly basis. The quarterly billings data by region in millions of U.S. dollars,year-over-year and quarter-over-quarter growth rates by region are detailed in the chart below.
