JMicron Technology expects its overall controller IC shipments to surpass 100 million units in 2010, from around 70 million shipped in 2009.
The memory controller IC specialist said it has begun volume production of SATA 3Gb/s interface SSD controllers and USB 3.0 solutions.
JMicron said controller chips for USB 3.0 storage devices will be a key driver of its revenue growth in 2010. The company expects the segment to account for 10-20% of its total revenues this year.
JMicron said it has also begun R&D on SATA 6Gb/s interface controllers, with volume production slated for the fourth quarter of 2010.
JMicron said it plans to list on Taiwan's over-the-counter (OTC) or the main board of the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE) by the end of 2010 or at the beginning of 2011. The controller chip designer is scheduled to begin trading on Taiwan's emerging stock market in mid-2010.
JMicron is part of the United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) Group and led by Tsai Ming-Kai, who is also the chairman of MediaTek.
