Eastman Kodak has filed lawsuits against Apple Inc. and Research In Motion Ltd for patent infringement.
Kodak filed a complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission claiming Apple's iPhones and RIM's BlackBerry handsets infringe a Kodak patent on a method for previewing images. Separately, Kodak filed two suits against Apple in U.S. District Court claiming Apple infringes Kodak patents on digital cameras and computer processes.
In the complaint against Apple and RIM, Kodak is seeking a limited exclusion order preventing the import of infringing devices, including cellphones with embedded cameras. In both District Court actions against Apple, Kodak is seeking a permanent injunction against Apple as well as unspecified damages.
Neither Apple nor RIM had an immediate response to the Kodak allegations.
