Sony has launched two new Z- and Y-series notebooks in the Taiwan market, with the Z-series targeting the high-end business segment and the Y-series for the ultra-thin segment.
The Z-series is available in three models – the Z115, 116 and 117 – with the 13.3-inch Z-117, which is equipped with 256GB "quad SSD" as the top model carrying a suggested retail price of NT$84,800 (US$2,654). The Z-series notebooks are designed and manufactured by Sony itself in Japan.
The Y-series notebooks are Sony's first ultra-thin models powered by Intel Core 2 Dual SU7300 processors and are priced below NT$30,000 for the mass market, according to Sony Taiwan.
Sony aims to take a 10% share in total notebook sales revenues in Taiwan in 2010, up from 6-7% in 2009. Wistron is the manufacturer of Sony's ultra-thin notebooks.
