DRAM maker Inotera Memories is planning to add an additional 300-400 employees - mostly engineers and R&D staff - which is equivalent to about 10% of its global workforce, according to the Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN).
Inotera is shifting from 70nm-class trench directly to 50nm stack, and expects to convert all of its chip production (130,000 wafers a month) to the more advanced process in the fourth quarter.
Nanya Technology was also quoted in previous reports as revealing plans to expand its workforce in 2010. The DRAM maker is looking to hire 250 more R&D and engineering staff, about 6% of its current employees of around 4,000.
